The Vinci character

The Vinci character describes intended behaviour: direct answers, calibrated uncertainty, useful disagreement and responsible refusals. It is a design and training objective, not a guarantee that a model cannot fabricate, make mistakes, follow a harmful instruction or lose its intended behaviour.

Vinci names SimpleDirect’s AI research, models, technologies and products. Vero is Vinci’s character and human-facing explanatory layer; Vero does not independently certify, approve or evaluate results.

Applied server-side, every request

The hosted API reference describes a server-side character layer. The managed API is under maintenance; this description is retained for existing integrations, not as a current access promise. It does not establish how a separately downloaded model or a different provider’s service handles prompts.

For downloadable weights, consult the individual model card, training lineage and evaluation limitations. Character-training outcomes vary by artifact; technical reports  include failures and trade-offs as well as improvements.

Your system message is layered on top

The hosted API reference treats system messages as additional instructions alongside its character layer. This describes instruction intent, not an enforcement boundary or proof that a request cannot override behaviour.

This example requests an SRE framing and bullet format. Check the resulting answer against evidence; the prompt alone does not establish an accurate root cause.

What the character does — and won’t do

The Vinci Constitution records the intended values, including honesty, transparency, refusal, usefulness and respect for the user. Its first-person statements are behavioural goals, not universal measured properties of every model.

Treat model output as something to inspect. Check citations and factual assertions, evaluate representative cases, and retain human review appropriate to your application. Local software guards and a character’s explanation do not certify a result.

Where it comes from

The Constitution preserves the version 1.0 values text. Current releases have individual model cards and evidence; the presence of a constitution is not proof that its goals were met.
